I'd recommend Jim's 682 Pixel controller.... multi protocol, multi voltage, supported by all sequencers used here....

+1 on the E68x line. It will handle all the pixels you want, and if you are fairly handy with a soldering iron, the E862 kit should be the least expensive way to get you going.
Only other possible option would be the E6804 when it becomes available. Same basic concept, just fewer outputs.

I have read that the Joshua system is suppose to be getting a daughter board that will allow an sd input , but won't do music.
Don't quote me, but I'm pretty sure that what it does, but can't handle music through it I think.
I'm hoping this is the case, I have an old pinball table, just the table, and hope to set up lights, in it, and turn it into a coffee table.
