powering the 595

Here's my rough layout idea for a power supply. Because of the limited interest, it's compact (1.35 by 1.425) inches so it wouldn't be too costly on a small proto run. It also has fairly large (0.032) size traces and is single sided so it could be home-etched. It is definitely not finished but here's the concept, anyway.

There aren't any mounting holes!!

The other thing that I'd think about is moving the input and output pads further apart, and set them up to accept fast-on terminal (something like mouser 534-1285 or 534-4904). Then we'd have to standardize on the width and thickness of the terminals.
