Using the PX1 as a pic programmer

I have a PX1 and a SS24. The 24 came with 57.5 baud and I programmed the px1 to 115Kbaud. I have a pickit 2 to do the programming with but the SS24 doesn't have programming ports. Can I put the pics from the ss24 into the ic holder on the PX1 and program them then move them back?

Most of the MicroChip CPUs have programming pins in a standardized layout. You could use the PX1 as the socket. I personally prefer to use the ZIF socket since it does not have insertion and removal limits.

My plan was to just use the PX1 as a socket. I do not have a ZIF handy.

keep in mind there are a limited number of insertions a socket can handle before it stops making contact.
