I have three Renard SS Boards I use with my MegaTree. All three have Dirk's Xbee adapter installed. Could I leave the Xbee adapter in the first one in the numerical channel sequence and then daisy chain the other two with cat 5 cable? Would I still need to leave the start address firmware setting on the second and third controller? If so, it would give me two extra Xbees and adapters for use somewhere else.

Yes, you can have the first renard in the chain have an xbee and the other downstream Renards hooked up via a cable.
I run my show this way.
I don't set any start addresses. Basically, this is just replacing the cable from your show computer to the first Renard with an XBEE wireless connection.
