What is ArtNet?

This is one of the open source Ethernet protocols that is used for lighting control. This protocol was used more widely prior to the release of the new industry standard ACN. Overall ArtNet isn't very complicated and doesn't require a developer to purchase anything (the ACN standard must be purchased from ESTA). With that said is it a "heavy" protocol, that requires a device to identify itself on the network. This protocol also requires the device to parse multiple universes of network data locally.
