Basic Terminology

Introduction

This we hope will be kind of like a dictionary to get you started on learning the terms used in RGB and Pixel lighting.

RGB

a light which effectively blends red, green, and blue sources to produce a range of colors.

Pixel

technically a single point of light, usually small, and are what some monitors are made of. The resolution of a monitor is usually described in pixels, such as 800x600 for SVGA. In the DIYC world, the word "pixels" usually refers to an intelligent RGB light or group of lights that can be individually controlled.

Intelligent Pixel

a RGB light or group of lights that can be individually controlled. Each light or lights has a built-in intelligent chip that understands commands that are sent to it. Requires both a power connection as well as a data connection to accept commands.
