Hi dee ho neighbors

Well christmas 2008 will be my first christmas with a home hopefully and I have been dying to do a sequenced display. Been reading a fair bit on this site and wanted some suggestions.

Background:
I am an EE with a decent soldering technique and not afraid to get after it. Don't want to deal with PCB printing at all. Prefab all the way, LOL.

Since I am going to be purchasing all the lights in the same year, I want to keep the cost down, but I still want something very decent. I am going to start early to make sure I have everything ready to go early as well.

What I am looking for:
64-128 channels dimmable/fm transmission, with potential for a lot of upgrade

Any tips are welcome.

Hi reactortrip,

Welcome to DIYC

Sounds like a Renard or FireGod is what you are looking for.

I am starting out with a Grinch board but am looking at the Renard and or the DMX Lynx for later additions.

Sorry I can't help out with a transmitter, I am still looking for a good option there.

Have fun, Build lots of blinkly flashly lights

Hey, thanks for the response.

Yeah the more I read, the more it looks like a Ren64 and Ren T combination with SSRs would be the best choice for me. I will probably just run a 64 channel in 08 to get on my feet and then look to go bigger. I got a lot more research to do and loving every minute of it.

I use the Belkin Tuncast II with antena mod. Works great and has plenty of range with the trasmitter in the house.

Awesome, yeah I think I will go that way.

Now I just have to decide which system I want to go with. So many choices and options.

I want something that can grow.
