OK, I lied. I said I wasn't gonna do it...

A ring of pixels (bullet) pointed straight up. We have used this to make flood lights with the added benefit of being able to change the colors. Works fine at the distance the smoke rises.
Great job with this one - again.

What are you using to generate the smoke? It looks more like steam or mist.... is it the "guts" of a cold humidifier?

Actually that ring idea was similar to my first thought but what I really need to do is compensate for the smoke being blown by the wind as the float moves. I may have to project light from the cab roof. Still playing with it.

It is an ultrasonic fog generator. It is indeed mist.. its distilled water vapor. An actual fog machine would leave oily residue on everything.. I wasn't ready for that... and this way I don't have to generate any heat which means better battery life. It draws about 2 amps off the 72v battery system thru the same inverter that runs the sound system.

Looks good! What if you increase the volume of "smoke," it would allow the light to reflect more.

will never get bored of seeing this train

i wish i had the time to do this, it seems just so rewarding when you know kids and adults will be mesmerised by it
