Since the original DoItYourselfChristmas.com Wiki has been offline for quite some time, and there doesn't appear to be any indication that it will return, I've devoted a significant amount of time to bringing the DIYChristmas.com Wiki up to date.
My goal isn't to replace the original Wiki or rewrite the work of those who built it. Many of the articles were written by some of the most knowledgeable members of our community, and they contain years of experience that deserves to be preserved. Whenever possible, I've tried to retain the original author's intent while updating the information to reflect where the hobby is today.
So far, the work has included:
Not every article needs updating. In fact, many of the original pages are still excellent today. Those pages are being left largely unchanged, with only minor corrections where necessary. Others simply needed references to older software, networking methods, or hardware brought up to date.
I also want to make it clear that this isn't an attempt to persuade anyone to leave or abandon DoItYourselfChristmas.com. Many hobbyists prefer to use only this forum, and that's perfectly fine. The DIYChristmas Wiki is simply a resource that's available to anyone who wants to use it.
If you're already a member of DIYChristmas.com, I encourage you to consider contributing to the Wiki. The more people who share their knowledge and experience, the more valuable it becomes for everyone.
If you're not a member, that's okay too. You're welcome to use the Wiki as a reference whenever it's helpful. My goal is simply to preserve the knowledge our community has accumulated over the years and make it available to anyone who can benefit from it.
The Wiki belongs to the community, and my hope is that it continues to grow into a modern resource while preserving the information that helped so many of us get started in this hobby.
