Problems in Minnesota

Just wanted to tell all my friends that the recent (and ongoing) problems here in Minnesota with ICE and the invasion of Federal agents is grim. Two of our citizens have been killed by ICE agents and every day is filled with grief and the horrors of having to deal with a president's anger and unlawful actions. We're protesting, of course, regardless of the weather -- even when the temperatures drop to a natural -30F and a -52F wind chill. We're not giving up. We're not giving in. In the end, we know we will win.

For me personally, I'm doing okay. We have clothes for this and from what we've seen, many ICE agents aren't well prepared for living up here. But now they understand our resolve.

I just wanted to provide some assurance to all my friends that I'm okay.

It's pretty grim.

People living here see it and understand. Some of my most conservative friends that live here are like "woah, this is too much". When you see a video with your own eyes, and then the current administration spins a completely different version... twice, with two different murders... it's not just political disagreement anymore.

Stay Safe! As someone living up North and looking down at what is going on, I am in complete disbelief. How things got to this point totally baffles me. Everyone looking on is in total horror at what is taking place.

For me this is not just an abstract political issue, it's a personal concern as well. As you are probably aware, I live in the Twin Cities, not too far from Minneapolis. My son, who is latino, visited me over the holidays. He flew out (fortunately) about a week after the New Year. One of the servers at the restaurant where I frequently eat was telling about several large SUV's with blacked-out windows just sitting near her home, engines idling, so what is going on is not confined to the protest areas. It's not hard for me to envision matters going very bad if my son had stayed here a little longer and had gone shopping. I don't know where either of you two live, but I suspect that it's nowhere close to here.

And I see the need for prayers for people other than just those in power.

I couldn't agree More! The thing that's missing is the actual prayer.

Matthew 22:34-40
34 But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees with his reply, they met together to question him again. 35 One of them, an expert in religious law, tried to trap him with this question: 36“Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?”
37Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. 40 The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”

John 13:34-35
34 So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. 35 Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”

There is no Love anymore. Men's Hearts are full of Hate. The Devil comes to kill, still, and destroy.

Pray with me.

"Heavenly Father, we come to you today with heavy Hearts. We have turned from you and given the enemy a foot hold in our Lives. Lord, we ask for your forgiveness for our sins. Lord, we ask for you to lift us up and hold us in your Mighty Hands of Grace. Lord, Touch our hearts, mend the broken places, and show us your unconditional Love. Be with those who are going through the turmoil in our country and show them your Grace.
Lord, we pray for our Leaders. Those locally and Nationally. Lord give them Grace that they might lead us in your Light. Touch their hearts Lord and show them your Peace. All these thing we ask in the Mighty Name of Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen"

I just have to say this - Has there ever been a time that your prayers, or anyone's that you know, have been answered??? If there was a benevolent god person, would things like the Holocaust, or the ICE killings in Minnesota even have happened. Is there some sort of proof there? You need to remind yourselves that your bible was written by men, not your god. Sorry, but the hypocrisy just astounds me sometimes....

Let's not go there, especially not in the Prayer Chapel. How God operates in this world is a topic of great complexity and subtlety, and I don't that there is room or appropriate theological knowledge to discuss it here.
