I thought we had something there but changed both to match and still no connection
 
That is an RS 485 adapter. Did you use an ohm meter to make sure the signals are showing up on the correct pins at the Renard end? Did you set the jumper properly to enable the termination resistor?

If those are correct, you most likely need to change the baud rate to 57600 baud (Renard default). However, if the baud rate was wrong and the data pins are correct, the you would be getting the FE led lit indicating a communications signal was received but could not be decoded. I also suggest you set the PC side to 2 stop bits for initial testing. Doing this is OK as long as the receiving side is set to a value equal or lower than the sending side.

I can check when I'm at the office tomorrow to see what's there. I know there are quite a few PC's that run Windows 10 natively and would work fine for your show. I run my show directly from DE9 to ethernet from the PC to the first Renard, then it converts it to rs485 to each subsequent controller. I'm still using dumb RGB "super strips" as floods on the house that are powered by a Ren48LSD. Still 88 renard channels on my modern show, lol. I bet I have a PCIE serial card that would work on any of the PCs I have too.

Just out of curiosity, what USB to serial adapter are you trying to use? Did Windows get the drivers installed for it correctly?

That one does have a tx light. If it is not lit, then nothing is being sent to the wires.

And I have four of them in the basement. They were very reliable for me when I used PX1.

The red is on, is that one just power blue is transmission and will flicker when I move stuff around but does not flicker when I run a sequence. So even if the renard is not picking up data sould it flicker if the connection from the cpu is sending out data. If yes then my issue is my cpu
 
You dont need to run a sequence. You just need Vixen 3 active. If everything is set up properly, V3 is always sending data to the active controllers. The data says "off, off...." but it is still data. If the Adapter TX is lit, then we need to look at the wires and how they are actually connected. Time to get out the ohm meter.

I wish I had one. I am old school using vixen 2.1. For just this year. The tx light is the blue? which is not on
