I've been on the lookout for pre-made frames of trees, wreaths, stars, etc on after Christmas clearances. Metal, tin, plastic, coro... doesn't matter what's on the frame as most will come off to make way for pixels. Today at Big Lots, clearance went to 75% (finally) and I found 9 of these 14" mini-trees for $2.00/each made of sturdy plastic with multiple support rings to attach pixels. Also found the 5-pack of battery pre-lit 6" stars for $3.00 (60 cents each or 30 cents if I just use half the star frame). The lights inside are battery operated so I can pull out the strings and put in pixels.
If I had 10, I could make a stacked tree off trees (4 bottom, 3 above, 2 above and 1 on top). I may just place randomly in front of the medium tomato cage trees.
