Ghosting? No Pin 14?

Hi All,
Built my first ( and second but thats a work in progress) 595, but am having some strange issues. It will not work if i connect pin 14 from the parallel port as shown in schematics, and all channels flash ( at about 1/2 brightness) if i have the fast section in my Vixen sequence. Any Suggestions? Also channel 1 dosnt work.

It's been a very long time since I've looked at any of that circuit. I'm surprised that it works at all without pin 14 from the LPT hooked up, as all three outputs from the LPT (Pins 1,2,14) are needed (plus ground).
