How to make a Pixel Spiral North Pole

Yepper I knew what you were talking about!!! That is going to be the labor intensive part I think....
 
Has anyone made a taller version of this? I love this design and I'm fixing to make some, but was wondering if anyone has made a 5ft or 6ft version and have pictures or video? I would like to make two of these and place them on opposite sides of my driveway.
 
For those that have made these, have any of you modeled the globes in xlights? If so, what model did you use? Custom?
