Smart Pixel Rope Lighting

For several years I have led our Christmas boat parade with a 16 channel controller from Light-o-Rama (CTP16PC). My song list is extensive and the show is very nice however I am limited to single color rope light with only being able to control them with intensity, twinkle, shimmer, or on/off. I would like to add a few rgb circuits to the show but need them to be viewed 360°. I rope light makes the best sense but so far I have not found any the will work without a proprietary controller. I am new to rgb smart and dumb lightning but want to make this happen. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
