Sound system error

After adding music when I play the sequence I get the following error:

Sound system error (err_Channel_ALLOC)
Error trying to allocate a channel..

Anyone have an idea what is wrong or missing..

Never saw that one before...but, is the audio track really long? Will it play in Media Player? Can you add different songs in Vixen with no issues?
 
what operating system you have on your computer IE 32 bit 64 bit guess that doesnt matter was reading something but it was old i know vixen 2.1 runs on 64 bit now duh I have it
 
Doing a quick google search it looks like others have had this issue. Their solution was to reinstall DirectX.

I would also try making a sequence that is shorter than 8 minutes. It shouldn't be an issue but I have seen it in other applications that use fmod for sound(which is what Vixen uses).
 
under tools set application default audio device does it show anything there is there more than 1 too select just guessing at things

I am using a old laptop with windows 98SE. Updating to DirectX 8.0 fixed the issue. I found out Vixen doesn't use DirectX directly, but it does use FMOD. FMOD uses DirectX (or DirectSound).
