I don't see many people doing plywood cutouts anymore. Most have started using Coroplast but I still prefer the real wood. Here is two of this years characters: Heat Miser and Snow Mister from the 1972 show "The Year Without A Santa Claus". both are about 4.5' tall and on plywood.

I do all the work for the display. My neighbors comment if I don't have new cutouts each year. Lol
 
If there was an equally good and easy way to drill press and punch the pixels into plywood, I would gladly walk out on my long-term relationship with coro.

The outline is paint.
I *could* drill a pixel hole outline wirh a 12mm bit, but yes, that is very time consuming.
