Yep, that's pretty much it. Don't think about the individual controller channels (called "outputs" in Vixen 3), think about the things you're controlling -- eg. the megatree, or minitrees, etc. Then, you can use the patching and filtering to break it down into the appropriate channels.

i have a mostly complete song that i would be willing to post but the sequence file is about 20 megs so its going to have to wait till i get some time to upload it too my server. maybe ill get to it before the week is up
That is a pretty big file. How many channels you have? I seriously doubt that my proposed 72 channels (for next year) will take up anywhere near that figure.

i have 144 Renard Channels and about 6 universe of e1.31 (counted in ch's its over 3k)
