Website "Not Secure"

Why would the "doityourselfchristmas.com" website start showing in Google Chrome as "Not Secure" all of a sudden?

It doesn't show as insecure on my ubuntu/firefox system per se, but the connection is insecure because the site doesn't support https. Maybe the Google Chrome has been updated recently to be pickier about security.

FWIW, it's not hard to solve the problem -- adding a SSH certificate to the web site will do it. There are lots of free certificates one can get, and afterward, it's usually installed through the website's control panel or possibly as simple as copying the certificate key to the root of the website.

At the browser side, one can usually mark a website as "allowed" so that it doesn't hiccup too badly....

I'm currently using Windows 11 and the Edge browser and it displays "not secure" in the address window but it doesn't prevent access.

Yes, I can use all functions of the website on Microsoft Edge. The other thing that Chrome is doing is not allowing any images to be displayed on this website.

No problems here with Chrome turning off images either. I do know there is a setting in Chrome, probably under security, that allows/disallows downloading images.

Possibly to block invisible pixels that are sometimes placed for tracking users.

I have gone through several methods of trying to get images to show, but none have worked. I am going to just use MS Edge to work with this website. I think I'll also contact Google and see if I can get some advice from them. Thanks again for the suggestions.

I use Firefox and that message has been displayed on my system also. What worked for me was to click on the padlock in the address bar and open the drop down list and select "off " for the https only. This will allow this sight only to be accessed as http. You may still a warring at the login screen but that should be it. You can also go to settings then to Browser Privacy at the bottom of the page you can set " Don't enable HTTPS only" but Firefox will not look to see if the sight you are on is HTTPS. If you choose to do this be careful of the sights you log into.

PS. I don't know if this will work for Chrome.

I think I'll try turning off some of my anti-virus and firewall softare temporarily and see if that makes a difference. Thanks all for your input.

There is a setting in chrome to not show images for websites. You can enable it by right clicking on the "Not secure" then go to site settings and there is an option to allow images.
