Wondering if anybody knows what this is?

So I started a project this weekend and in my head it was a good idea, but both my wife and I do not really think it has turned out the way we thought it would. Now I am not going to say what it is because if you cannot tell then we are way off. Now it isn't finished yet, but before I continue I want to see what everybody thinks.

Well it is a hollow Styrofoam ball with incands poking through from the inside and it isn't painted black, it has glitter covering it. I am going for something specific, but I don't think it I am on the right track.
 
I am wondering if the project doesn't do it justice. LoL. I also could be harder on myself than anything. Thanks for the input Robo, I will see if anybody else has an idea and maybe I will still work on it and maybe try again. I was going for a Christmas Tree ornament.
