Quick Start Guide Layout Notes

2013-01-28: OHR Began loading the Quick Start Guide by transcluding sections from HLS UMaRG. Found how to do this from this page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Wiki_markup#Limiting_formatting_.2F_escaping_wiki_markup
--OriginalHotrodder (talk) 00:03, 30 January 2013 (EST)Found even more info on 2013-01-29 at this page: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Transclusion
Added <noinclude> before and after the navigation table at the bottom of the Download and Installation page to keep them from showing on the transcluded page.

2013-01-28: Image naming scheme for HLS wiki pages:

  • Each part separated by underscore
  • All start with HLS
  • Next comes the ImageName, such as ChannelManager
  • Then, either QSG for Quick Start Guide or UM for User Manual
  • Followed by the image number (if there are a series of images of this type)
  • Finally, the version of HLS that was used to take the image.
  • Example: HLS_AddCustomEffect_UM01_V12A.jpg

2013-01-28 Found good information on how to collapse-expand sections at this page: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Collapsible_elements
Started playing with it on the QSM sections I think this might be a slick way to navigate the QSG and perhaps even the UMaRG

  • I updated the Display Groups page on UM and removed a significant amount that actually dealt with sequencing rather than groups. It makes more sense for that information to be included elsewhere and just leave that page to only discuss Display Groups. Screenshot images still have to be uploaded and will be later today.
  • I have the RGB Channel page up to date. I removed portions that discussed sequencing RGB channels as it doesn't fit in the new structure. That information will be included in the sequencing chapter.
  • I moved the "convert 3 r,g,b channels into 1 rgb channel information into the RGB Channel page rather than the reference guide. It just seemed to flow that way and the page seemed to be "missing something" without that included. We can link back to it or include it in the Conversion from Vix Lor pages since that is something that will be needed for those conversions.
  • Yesterday, I finally finished the advanced channel management page and I also created the page to address installing HLS on OSX.
