PIC programming using MPLAB/MPASMWIN software

It's not even needed for PicKit3, as I've been using MPLAB with a PicKit3 for a while now.

My reasons for starting to use MPLABX are that it runs on the operating systems that I prefer (FreeBSD if I don't need to use the programmer, Linux if I do need to use it), and that it is the future for Microchip. It allows me to retire a computer that I use only for programming the PICs.

Anyway to get an update on these videos? I try and click the link... and lets just say that they take me to a page that isn't in English and is a good thing that I didn't open or click on them while I was at work. Just got done testing all of my boards per the wiki.. and now am at the step to program the PICs, and it takes me to this forum page. Thanks

Any way to get another link to those videos? I really need the instructions and the links are still going to a "different location" than the instructional videos. Eeeek!

I had the same problem last year and sent WayneJ a message to see if he could update the links. I needed those links again this year and saw that they were not going to the correct sites as well. Here are two links I used to get things working for me to program my Renard PIC's. They are not video links but are pictorial documents used by the DIYC community. One is based off of WayneJ's two videos and the second is from Renard Plus:

http://www.renard-plus.com/files/Pic Programming Guide.pdf

I was able to get things working for me using these two documents. While there are many Youtube video's that talk about MPLAB and pic programming, I found these two documents more helpful to at least get me in the ball park.

Hope this helps.
