F.A.S.T. Finally Affordable Snowfall Tube - PCB Gerber Files?

Hi;

Anybody have access to the GERBER files for the two PCB's required for the FAST Snowfall Tubes? I see that DIYLEDExpress is no longer in business, and I'm not sure how to get in touch with Cory Helmuth or Phil Short the original designers.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers;
Roy

I would guess Phil already heard his name mentioned.. Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, .....

Those designs are pretty old. It'll take me a while to sort through old emails to DLovely, so in the meantime I'm wondering if there are more modern, capable products on AliBaba or the like that might serve a similar purpose.

Hi Phil;

I agree that these designs are old, but I ended up buying the parts a LONG time ago (with the exception of the PCB's), so I thought I would just go ahead and build them now (a blast from the past!). I also realize that I could just build them on perf-board, but I think that using the PCB's would make it more professional looking. My PCB design abilities are somewhat rudimentary, so I was hoping that someone has access to the original GERBER files.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers;
Gary

I would be willing to buy all 8 off you Phil, if that works? Are these the Controller Boards or the LED Mounting boards?

They're the LED mounting boards (the ones with 7 LEDs).

There are actually several boards involved, and I'm not sure which ones were available from DIYLEDExpress, nor which ones you want.

For the Controller Board, there is the original version from Cory, with just a 14-pin PIC, 8 resistors and connectors (one version with an 8-pin inline connector and one with the staggered-pin connector (to mate with the LED Mounting boards).
There is also a Controller Board (I'm not sure if DIYLEDexpress ever had it) which takes DMX input rather than just using a pre-fixed pattern.

For the LED module there is a version with 7 LEDs and a double-length one with 14 LEDs.

Hey Phil;

You'll have to ignore my ignorance, and for being such a pain, but I cant find the files that you are referring to anywhere. I assume that the reference to the "green" site is to diychristmas.org, but for the life of me I can't find the "PCB/Copper" sub folder.

Cheers;

Phil you da man! I stupidly was not logged into diychristmas.org. As soon as I did I could see the files section. Thanks again for your help and your patience!

I made these a few years ago and used Scott Hanson's BBB16 controller to drive them. You solder the pixel strip to the end and a xConnect pigtail to the other end. The pixel strip runs 50 pixels down and 50 pixels up and solders to the other side of the board. I insert the strip into a 1/2" PEX tube and use a PG7 connector on the top.
