New to Pixel lights.

At the last minute my wife decided she is tired of the strobe gutter holiday lights we have used the last couple of years and wants me to outline the the roof with addressable pixel lights. We have a hip roof and would either do just the front of ~60ft. Or 3 sides ~120ft. I do want my lights to b temporary or no more than semi-permanent to see how it works out and if I want to change anything before making it permanent. Also as we are both retired we have contemplated moving from Indiana to Texas where are son lives.

Before ordering parts I am struggling how to mount the lights. I have vinyl wrapped fascia boards but my soffit comes down to the bottom of the fascia boards. I do not have room to mount pixels behind the fascia board. Any suggestions on what pixel types and temporary mounting process?

Thanks in advance.

I've seen people use binder clips in various ways over the years. I clipped strings on the lip under the facia in the past. Search "Facia Clips".

One such example is stole of the internet.

I have a similar problem, i.e. just 1/4" to 1/2" behind the fascia board. So there is no good way to "hide" the pixels. What I probably will end up doing is getting pebble/seed lights as they are really small. They don't seem to be super bright but I probably will use 2.5cm/1" spacing. Repairing them will be a bit of a pain as they are so close and the wires on the ones with 2.5cm spacing are thinner than the ones with 5cm spacing, at least the ones from Ray Wu. These can also be mounted much easier, i.e. with clips that stick to the wood (it will take of the paint when you remove those sticky clips, though. So I might end up using U nails.

A common method to mount pixels for house outlines is to go to your local big box store and purchase vinyl j-channel that matches your facia color. With that you will drill evenly spaced holes in the j-channel to fit your pixels. Press the pixels in running the wires back to a controller, don't forget to voltage inject, and mount the j-channel to your house. I put my pixels up where the facia meets the house. This way everything is protected by the overhang. But that is a personal preference. My pixels have been up for almost 5 years and I run them all year around. The house is colored for the holidays and seasons. Hope this helps.
