Thank you so much for the reply. Yes, I did remove the controller.
The LEDS have 2 wires in/2 wires out of each bulb as well as 2 wires that run the length of the string. It looks like these might be power injection as they connect to a number of bulbs throughout the string.
My end goal for this project is connecting it to a SSR and when the controller was connected it seems it is causing a delay in them responding to the relay.
